KINDRED SPIRITS TO OPEN SATURDAY, MARCH 24, 2012 AT THE ART STORE. Kindred Spirits will be on exhibit at The Art Store from March 24 through April 20, 2012. A meet and greet with many of the exhibiting artists will begin at 5:30PM on Saturday, March 24th. A reception to honor the artists will follow until 7:30PM. The exhibition will feature artists represented by The Art Store as well as artists that have never shown at The Art Store before.
Kindred Spirits is an invitational exhibition in which The Art Store artists were asked to invite another artist whose work they respect or admire. The exhibition will include prints, paintings, fiber art, sculpture, and drawing. The show is comprised of the work of twenty-two of our represented artists including Katherine Cox, Diana Frazier, Katherine Kadish, Susan Petryszak, Jan Griffin, Helen Chilton, Dutch & Hammer, Maggie Starcher, David Stern, George Snyder, Ellie Schaul, Nancy Berlin, Mary Boxley Bullington, Caryl Toth, Barbara Marsh Wilson, Helma Groot, Mark Soppeland, Gretchen Haien, Susan Poffenbarger, Harold Edwards and Diane White. Their kindred spirit artists include Eva Cox, Ray Dolin, Don Kelly, Bethany Petryszak, Julie Hamilton, Molly Erlandson, Dave Litz, Adrian Blackstock, Karen Sponaugle, Larry Leach, Ginni Fresina, Pamela Nelson, Anne Bernard, Emma Booth, Jerre Watkins, Stephanie Rond, Melissa Stallard, Randall Teasley, Helen Jordan, John Terry and Barbara Walker.
Over 40 separate works in various mediums and sizes will be on view.

Art Exhibition and Open House at 944 Julianna Street, Parkersburg , WW. This amazing 3 story, historic house that is for sale will show work of 30-40 artists from Huntington, Charleston, Parkersburg, and Edinboro PA. The opening reception will coincide with the annual Christmas tour in the district, on December 3rd (6:30pm) and December 4th (1pm to 4pm). Free refreshments, music-entertainment, and plenty of art!
Work will remain up for the month of December. Open house hours for December will be: Mondays (3 to 8), Saturday & Sunday ( 9 to 3).

large holiday tree in the Virginia Van Zandt Hall, the main hallway of The Huntington Museum of Art.
The tree will be decorated with artist palettes painted by artists in our area. Next to the tree there will be a notebook. Each artist that participates will have a page with an image of his/her palette, the artist’s statement, a website address if the artist has one and the artist’s contact information. The large tree in the hallway will be up for viewing November 21, 2010-January 8, 2011.
There will be a champagne toast on December 4 at 4:00 p.m. in the museum’s conservatory for all artists that have participated.

The exhibition provides communities with the opportunity to hear victims of sexual assault tell their stories, learn about the impact of rape, as well as hear of the triumph from the trauma. Gallery 842 asked local artists to submit works for consideration -to be hung concurrently with the castings – that fit within the theme of sexual assault awareness.

Fabulous Fibers, A Fiber Art Celebration at the Angelwood Gallery in Grand Rapids, Ohio will run from June 16 until July 24, 2011.
There will be an opening dessert reception on Thursday June 16 from 6 pm until 7:30 pm.
Featured artists will be Kathleen Shanteau, Pamela MacGregor, Deb Yeagle, Anne French, Jennifer Solon, Ann Beck, Donna Lark- Weiner, Deborah Bewley, Adrian Blackstock, Susan Cayton, Amy Fell, Vicki Kessler and Donna Kjona, Ellen Leonard, and Linda Walburn. Gropius Master Artist, Sook Jin Jo, who's Outside In is the current exhibit at HMoA.
The workshop was an idea to share memories, dreams and wishes and visualize them into a collaborative site-specific installation. The participants were invited to find and bring any abandoned or discarded materials-such as wood, fragments of glass, broken jewelry or fabric, etc. -find their intrinsic nature and transform them into something which carries our shared memories, dreams or wishes.
